Bronco Nation News is counting down the 25 most important players to the Boise State football team in 2022. Next up in our series is No. 1, quarterback Hank Bachmeier:
The starting quarterback is often the most important player on a football team. It’s no different with the Broncos in 2022.
Hank Bachmeier enters his fourth season as the starting quarterback with big expectations – and a chance to cement his legacy as one of the great quarterbacks in Boise State history. The list of four-year starters at quarterback is not lengthy for the Broncos, and Bachmeier could move his way up the list even more should he lead the Broncos to a Mountain West championship and a spot in a major bowl game.
Bachmeier started all 12 games last season despite playing through a knee injury. His 25 career starts rank second on offense to John Ojukwu.
He was fourth in the Mountain West in passing yards and sixth in total offense last season. Can Bachmeier improve upon those numbers and be one of the elite Mountain West quarterbacks in 2022? The offense had its lowest scoring output in more than a decade in 2021 and badly needs Bachmeier to have the best year of his career as a senior.
Bachmeier’s play will have a huge say in what ends up happening with the Broncos in 2022, which is why BNN selected him as the most important player to the Broncos heading into the season.
Watch B.J. Rains and Jay Tust discuss Hank Bachmeier as the most important player to the Boise State football team in 2022. The discussion starts at the 12:12 mark:
