Bronco Nation News is catching up with Boise State football commits ahead of the Dec. 15 early signing period. Next up in our subscriber-only series is quarterback Maddux Madsen of American Fork, Utah.
Maddux Madsen always wanted to go to Boise Sate, even while another quarterback was already committed there.
The three-star prospect from American Fork, Utah, waited patiently, even attending a Boise State camp over the summer, to see what would happen.
“It was weird for sure, but they were always super honest with me,” Madsen told Bronco Nation News. “It was a waiting game. We went to the camp in June and just being around them, I knew instantly those were the coaches I wanted to play for.”
Madsen nearly committed to New Mexico when it looked like there wouldn’t be an opportunity at Boise State. But then Kaiten Houser flipped from Boise State to Michigan State, and the door had been opened.
“When I saw he decommitted I was stoked,” Madsen said. “I felt like I was the next man up with how much they had talked to me. They called me that day and were truthful and like a week later…coach Avalos and coach Plough offered me.”
At that point there was nothing to think about. Madsen committed on the spot.
“I knew I was going to go there the first time I talked to them, so when they offered me, I said I’m committed,” Madsen said. “I (committed) instantly.”
Madsen sat down with Bronco Nation News to talk about his commitment to the Broncos and preparing to sign on Dec. 15.
