Potato Bowl becoming realistic option for Boise State
Quote from Railroader on December 3, 2021, 6:20 amSaw one projection, Stewart Mandell I think, BSU vs Western Michigan in Potato Bowl. If true at least we have a potentially easy victory if the offense catches fire....

I can dig this. We could wager the use of the nickname "Broncos" with them. HA!

Quote from Thomas Camara on December 3, 2021, 10:38 amI actually was hoping that we would get the Potato Bowl after this season. Saves a ton of money on travel and I believe it's a $1 million payout. Gives the guys one last chance to play on The Blue. The only bummer would be the time slot and our opponent.

Quote from Broncosontheblue on December 3, 2021, 11:32 amI dont like the idea of the Broncos "trading down" in order to stay home. To me, this feels a lot like last years' decision to not play at all. IF the Potato Bowl is the best scenario and the best opponent, then I am all for it. But I always want the best payout/opponent for the Broncos.

Quote from B.J. Rains on December 4, 2021, 9:28 amI say this with no disrespect towards Boise State, but they are 7-5 this season. Boise State shouldn't get some great bowl slot and opponent. Other teams in the conference deserve it this year. Boise State is 7-5, so playing in the Potato Bowl is about what you get. It's typically a 7-5 or 6-6 team in the Potato Bowl.
I understand some of the concerns with staying home, but when you go 7-5 you don't get a ton of say or choice.
I for one think it's a great idea, as I wrote about on the site earlier this week. If there was ever a year to do it, this is it. Save some money, give the players one final home game to end the season with a win, let the fans see the team play again without having to travel, save six figures on not sending the program on the road for a week, and maybe most importantly to the players, get done before Christmas. This lets the players have a full two weeks off with family and friends before the second semester starts.
It just makes a ton of sense. And as of Saturday morning I still think there's a decent chance it could happen.
