Kelsey Hall enters portal

PreviousPage 2 of 2

Little update on Kelsey: Seems she landed at a pretty good spot.

So she chose to go to one of the three PAC 12 schools which did NOT go to the NCAA tournament in 2023.

AND to the PAC 12 school that tied for last place in the PAC 12 in 2023.

AND to one of the two PAC 12 schools who finished the 2023 Softball season with a LOSING record.

I hope she likes losing because I think she is going to see a lot of that at ASU.

I mean that's just 1 bad year that they had lol. Arizona State typically fields a pretty solid team each season.

ASU will be a legit team as always. My prediction is Hall doesn’t make the starting line up there.

It's odd that the Arizona State softball front webpage has articles on two new transfer additions to their team but there is no mention of Kelsey Hall's commitment to them.  It seems odd to me at least.

I guess it will be roughly 8 months before we see if your prediction is correct or not.

But it's important - I think - to note that Arizona State's 2023 Senior day (on April 30th) celebrated EIGHT of their Seniors who won't be back next season.  And that includes their 6 best Starters batting averages from 2023 (at the very least).  Five of those eight 2023 Seniors were graduate students in 2023.

Based on that I would think there are lots of opportunities to make the team for Arizona State for 2024.

P.S. There are at least 4 Arizona State 2023 softball players who have entered the transfer portal.  Or four that I know of to date. So between the 8 departing Seniors/Grad students and the 4 known players in the transfer portal that's 57% of their 2023 team (12 of 21 players) that won't be back for 2024.

Kelsey will be a starter at ASU lol. She's a legit Player of the Year type of athlete. Like Bronco7454 said, they are replacing quite a few players from a team that had a very down year considering they had pretty high expectations coming off a Super Regionals run in '22. I think there will be an adjustment period to Pac 12 pitching but once she hones in on it, good luck stopping her.

Kelsey Hall, now an ASU Sun Devil, will be reunited with her former Fresno State teammate, Alesia Denby.  Denby has been Fresno State's starter at third base for several years and like Hall Denby is a 2023 graduate who has signed with Arizona State for the 2024 season.

Arizona State has - so far - added four transfer portal additions to their 2024 team.  Boise State - so far - has added only ONE.

Make that FIVE transfers to Arizona State.  The most recent is Makenzie Macfarlane - formerly at Utah State.   That makes three of the five transfer additions signed by ASU from the Mountain West Conference:

  1. Kelsey Hall - Boise State - DP/RF/2B - .385 BA in 2023
  2. Alesia Denby - Fresno State - SS/3B - .314 BA in 2023
  3. Makenzie Macfarlane - Utah State - Catcher/INF - .213 BA in 2023

The other two known transfer to ASU are:

Audrey LeClair - 3B - Michigan transfer - .323 BA in 2023

Tanya Windle - CF - Utah Tech transfer - .423 BA in 2023

Arizona State has only TWO STARTING position players returning for 2024.   That being:

# 17 Jordy VanHook (1B) - Played in all 48 games in 2023 - 47 starts- .293 BA in 2023

# 13 Kayla Lissy (SS) - Played in 38 games in 2023 - 37 starts - .181 BA in 2023
