Candidates that Ive seen others say:

  • Ryan Dinwiddie (CFL HC) - I really don't know how much interest Dinwiddie would have coming back into the college game as a Group of 5 OC. But with it being his alma mater I could maybe see a world where it happens.

I think Dinwiddie would jump at the opportunity considering that he makes about what Hamdan would have made this year at Boise State.  And as an American citizen he (Dinwiddie) pays taxes on what he makes both in Canada and the U.S.A.

I'm not ruling it out entirely due to the fact that it is his alma mater. The pay is not what bothers me either. I'm going to assume the $200k we get from Hamdan's buyout will be put directly into the new OCs contract. That will help potentially put the new guy over $500k for a season if we really wanted to. The part I am skeptical about is him leaving a HC spot in the CFL for a Group of 5 OC spot. I get that a guy like Chip Kelly left being a Big10 HC to being a Big10 OC at a more dominant school but I think his circumstances were a little different. He had been looking at every avenue possible of getting away from UCLA this offseason and finally landed a spot that got him away.

Some tidbits I picked up on BC board.  SD was interviewed on KTIK and the synopsis is:

Danielson being interviewed on Ktik just outlined what he’s looking for in his new OC

1. Explosive, attacking offense.

2. Proven QB developer

3. Proven play caller

4. Loves the players and wants to develop them as men, not just as football players.

Also says he is gaining a lot of interest in the position and has a big pool of candidates that is growing every day. He also said he’s going to take his time and get it right.

This morning on bronco nation news B.J. also mentioned that he has a little bit of information with Sanford because they are buddies. Sanford told him that they can’t talk anymore for a while until this process plays out. Obviously he wouldn’t say that unless he was talking with Danielson. I would say he’s very much in the mix at this point and likely matches those four elements Danielson is looking for. B.J. also mentioned that Sanford is very interested in the job and would be willing to stay in Boise for quite a while and not hop around, like he did in his former stops.

The only unnamed candidate seems to be Stanford per what he told BJ.  It is interesting that SD is willing to push back Spring Practices a week to find his man, he wants to get it right.  We got a good HC, he is not afraid to rock the boat and get the best coaches.  Dickey made a great choice so-far and I bet he will be busy finding new funds.  On another note, I saw a tidbit that the North Endzone construction could start by this summer.

Go Broncos!
