I know that WR Stefan Cobbs and OT Cade Beresford have publicly announced that they plan to return for the 2023 season.  Does anyone here know who is this third player?

Unless I'm just totally forgetting I think only 2 have confirmed they plan to come back. I wouldn't be shocked at all to see if more plan on doing the same for a 5th/6th year since we still have COVID era players on the roster. It'll be fascinating to see how Avalos and the coaching staff try to juggle the numbers and who they may tell that it might be in their best interest to enter the portal and or go pro. We are still probably 2-3 years away from not having players who can utilize a 6th year from COVID.

If we are just talking about key contributors from the past 2 years who could still use their 6th year and return the list looks like this:

• Caleb Biggers
• Riley Smith
• Billy Bowens
• Tyric LeBeauf
• Cortez Hogans
• Demitri Washington
• D.J Schramm
• KHG
• Garrett Curran(this may be the one people are referring to)
• Dallas Holliday
• Tyneil Hopper
• Jackson Cravens
• Divine Obichere (Also could be one people are referring to)

I dont expect all those guys or even half to return and itll be for different reasons. Reed and Washington I wouldnt be surprised if they called it good for their playing career after both have had so many injuries. Then there are others who I see definitely returning like KHG, Curran, Obichere, Hogans and Cravens. Then there's the truly "I dont know" in Bowens, Smith, Biggers, LeBeauf, Hopper, Schramm and Holiday. Keep in mind that all these would be potential 6 year guys. This isnt including possible 5th year dudes who may end up staying or leaving.

The following is my list of 2022 Boise State Seniors (4th, 5th & 6th year) who - as near as I can tell - have the option to return for 2023:

CB - Markel Reed - 2022 4th year SR - Factoring in the extra year (2020) and the fact that he played in only one game in 2022 he would be (technically) a RS Junior in 2023.

WLB - Brandon Hawkins - 2022 RS SR

TE - Riley Smith - 2022 RS SR

WR - Stefan Cobbs - 2022 RS SR - Has announced he plans to return for 2023

WR - Billy Bowens - 2022 RS SR

CB - Tyric LeBeauf - 2022 RS SR

DE - Cortez Hogans - 2022 RS SR

DE - Demitri Washington - 2022 RS SR

WLB - D. J. Schramm - 2022 RS SR

C - K. Holomalia-Gonzalez - 2022 RS SR

OG - Garrett Curran - 2022 RS SR

OT - Cade Beresford - 2022 RS SR - Has announced he plans to return for 2023

OG - Dallas Holliday - 2022 RS SR

TE - Tyneil Hopper - 2022 RS SR

DT - Jackson Cravens - 2022 RS SR

S - Jared Reed - 2022 6th year SR (he has missed two full seasons and can apply to the NCAA for more eligibility)

There are also two walk-ons who could apply for a 6th year namely Connor Riddle (Holder) and CB Chip Mitchell.

There is also J. L. Skinner and Scott Matlock but I think both of them will be entering the NFL draft.

Yup my bad. Misread their info on the roster page. its going to be interesting to see how the roster takes shape for next season. We could be super young at TE and LB next season if both Smith/Hopper and Schramm leaves. Selfishly I would love to see both Reed and Washington return since it seems like when healthy both are impact players on defense. I'd also understand if 1 or both decided to call it quits on their playing career with how many brutal injuries each have sustained as well.

I watched Brandon Hawkins interview (conducted in part by B.J.) and Hawkins was asked about possibly coming back for a 6th season and he didn't come right out and say it but I got the distinct impression he's not going to be returning for 2023.  Can't say as I blame him one bit tho as he's been here for five seasons and he has not started a single game.
