Personally I would say promote from within and then bring in a new person at one of the lower levels.

I'd personally look at Power 5 positional coaches for the DC spot or look at the top G5 defenses from around the country and see if we could find a gem that we could raise their pay and come in.

Secondly Ioane has been responsible for the Safeties this year and frankly the play in that area has been less than satisfactory this season.
