UNLV game recap

We got off to a sluggish first 4-5 mins of the game until Naje was able to give us some momentum and it really helped elevate the play from the rest of the guys. A lot of standing around on offense when our guys didnt have the ball. Standing there waiting for something to happen rather than cutting, setting screens etc... Milner looked awesome tonight. Usually his best games for us have been when we have had severe size mismatches in our favor. Not tonight. UNLV has  some length and Milner was not getting pushed around on either end of the court. Defensively we gave up quite a few uncontested looks which led to some easier buckets for the Rebels but at the same time forced 11 first half turnovers.

Much of the same trends from the first half happened in the 2nd half as well. This game was gritty and UNLV were not going to lay down for us. There were times it felt like we were up by 10+ but we were really only up about 4-5 points for most of the 2nd half. They just kept matching our scoring runs and hitting big shots right when you think we would start pulling away. The refs in this game were odd. We definitely got the beneficial end of the whistle tonight.

Big game against New Mexico on Wednesday night. They are fighting for their lives to get back into the bubble picture and got Jalen House back in the lineup after he missed a few games. Without him New Mexico struggled really bad. With him they are very good. This is one of the "must have" games imo. With them being on the wrong side of the bubble picture we need to avoid being swept or else we could be looking at a situation where we need to beat the Aztecs and Aggies both to feel better about our situation.

I feel they are not as sharp as they were in early January.  I’d like to see more consistency from Agbo.  The Broncos will not win many games with him getting 2 pts, 4 TOs, and 5 fouls.  Tyson has also struggled as of late.  He missed a few shots inside that he usually makes.  As a team, they need to shoot better than 25% from 3, it is a big part of their game.  On positive notes; Milner has played better lately which they desperately need.  Naje provides great hustle and is good for stealing a few points per game.  Both Max and Marcus are playing well giving BSU a formidable backcourt.  Time for the entire team to play to their max potential, the season is heading into the final stretch.  Go Broncos!
