Stacy Collins returning as Special Teams/Linebackers coach?

https://www.bronconationnews.com/former-boise-state-assistant-stacy-collins-expected-to-return-to-broncos-as-special-teams-linebackers-coach/

Returning to Boise State from a similar position at Penn State.

What a great hire.  The special teams should be infinitely better.  So far SD is pushing all the right buttons…now the W’s need to come!  Go Broncos!

They were better when he was the ST coach at Boise State in 2021.

2021 was also the first year of the Avalos regime and Collins left Boise State after that first year of the Avalos regime..............and now that Avalos is gone he's coming back.  Coincidence?  I think not.

This hire is strange.  Collins was probably making more than twice the money at Penn St.  The team lost two regular season games, at Ohio St and Michigan.  BSU had some problems getting Penn St. to release him, which may have cost some $.

Leaving for money, but coming back when Avalos leaves.  Perplexing.

Avalos and Harsin would make quite the pair. Coaches didn't play for them long. Wonder how well those two would get along on the same team?  Probably quite well since AA was Harsin's DC. They could put together a misfits coaching staff of egomaniacs and win the national title. Sarc.......

I'm not sure what has you perplexed.  It seems fairly obvious to me that the reason why he left after the 2021 season was BECAUSE of Avalos.   It also seems fairly obvious that the money was not his primary reason for leaving as he wanted to return when the opportunity became available - now that Avalos is gone.

Penn State saw him as an excellent special teams coach and wanted him for that.  The bigger paycheck was simply a by-product of that.

Lastly I don't know it to be a fact but I would not be at all surprised if it was Collins who reached out to Boise State when they were known to be in need of a coach who could double as a LB and ST coach - and not the other way around.

Really dig the hire and love that its someone already familiar with how we run things. When Collins first left for Penn State I didnt think much of it cause I figured we would be fine on special teams like we always have been. Boy was I wrong.

Collins is also going to have a lot of talent to toy around with at the LB spots. I hope we can continue to create reliable depth going forward so guys like Simpson and Notarainni dont have to play 100% of the snaps each week and dont have to worry as much about their bodies breaking down towards the end of the season
