So far there will be five (of 12) new head football coaches

in the MWC for the 2024 season.

Boise State - Spencer Danielson - 1st year

Nevada - Jeff Choate - 1st year

New Mexico - Bronco Mendenhall - 1st year

San Diego State - Sean Lewis - 1st year

Wyoming - Jay Sawvel - 1st year

Also Barry Odom of U.N.L.V. will be in his 2nd year so a full one half of the MWC will be in their first or second year as the head coach of their respective MWC football team. And it's unclear when or IF Fresno State's Jeff Tedford will return as their head coach.

The longest tenured MWC head football coaches in 2024 will be:

Air Force - Troy Calhoun - 2024 will be his 18th year as AF head football coach (0 MWC championships)

San Jose State - Brent Brennan - 2024 will be his 8th year as San Jose State's head football coach (1 MWC championship)

Utah State - Blake Anderson - 2024 will be his 4th year as the head football coach at Utah State (1 MWC championship)

Then there is a three way tie between CSU's Jay Norvell, Hawaii's Timmy Chang and Fresno State's Jeff Tedford (if he returns) as all three of them would be in their 3rd year as the head coach at their school.

It's interesting to note that Boise State's Spencer Danielson will already have been the head coach at Boise State (interim) who won the 2023 MWC football championship game BEFORE he was named the head coach for the 2024 season.

In other words he has a MWC football championship BEFORE he became the full-time head football coach.
