San Diego State's top 4 pitchers

To say that the stats put up this season by the four main pitchers for San Diego State's softball team are impressive would be an understatement.  Maybe - some day - the Boise State softball team can field a team with similar stats.

Here's a breakdown of these four primary pitchers for SDSU this season

# 1. Allie Light - JR - 1.70 E.R.A. - .95 WHIP - 9-5  W/L - 28 App. - 11 Starts - 1 CG - 6 SV - 90.2 IP - 70 Hits - 27 Runs - 22 E.R. - 16 B.B. - 77 SO - 13 DB - 2 TP - 6 HR - 339 AB's - .206 BA - 3 WP - 8 HBP

Having said that San Diego has lost 5 MW conference games so far this season and all five of those conference losses were started by and lost by the above 4 pitchers for SDSU.

First loss was to Colorado State in the first conference game of the season for SDSU.   Dee Dee Hernadez was charged with the L in that game but it was Sarah Lehman who started that game and Lehman pitched the first three innings of that game & gave up 4 runs and all 4 were earned runs.  Finals score of that game was CSU 10 - SDSU 5

Second loss was also to Colorado State in the 3rd game of that first conference series.  Dee Dee Hernandez was again charged with the L in that game yet Hernandez only pitched 1/3 of an inning in that game and only gave up 1 run.  Allie Light started that game and pitched the first 4 innings and Light gave up the first 2 earned runs of that game.

The 4th conference game of this season for SDSU also was a loss - to Fresno State this time.  So after the first 4 conference games of the season SDSU was 1 & 3 in conference play.    Sarah Lehman was charged with the L in this game and she pitched 3.2 innings of this game (and gave up 4 earned runs) but again it was Allie Light who started this game and Light gave up 7 hits and 2 earned runs in 3.1 innings pitched.

The fourth conference loss of this season for SDSU was against Utah State - which Boise State just defeated three straight times last weekend - all by Run Rule.   This time it was Lehman who was again charged with the L.  But it was Dani Martinez who started this game.  Martinez went 3 innings and gave up 2 earned runs in this game.  Dee Dee Hernandez then pitched 2.1 innings and gave up two more earned runs before Lehman came into the game for the last 1.1 innings of this game and gave up 1 run.  Utah State won 5-4.

The fifth conference loss of this season for SDSU was against Nevada.   Allie Light started this game and went 2.1 innings in this game but gave up 5 runs - 4 of which were earned runs.  Dee Dee Hernandez followed Light in this game and gave up two more earned runs and then Lehman and Martinez closed out the last 2.1 innings of this game with no earned runs given up but the damage had already been done.  Final score was Nevada 7 - SDSU 2.

My point is the San Diego State pitching staff may have some impressive numbers but they very definitely can be defeated.
