North Endzone rebuilt timeline and info.

The Albertson's Stadium renovation.  Remember that project?  I just came across some tidbits on the North Endzone renovations.  Due to be completed by August 1, 2025.

Go Broncos!

Exciting times! The initial post they had yesterday had an error and said "August '24" for completion and I think everyone got even more excited for the renovations! They had to quickly correct it. 2025 still seems so far away but if everything goes to plan. All the construction should be done in time for what should be our home opener vs Oregon.

Yesterday's news didnt just stop at football either. Looks like they are finally getting lights installed at the soccer field which will be huge for being able to host night games and possibly even conference tourny games. Also men's basketball opening up more season tickets in the balcony with a potential refund(if you are in the first 100 that purchase these) at the end of the year if your tickets are used for every home game.

I think the next project is to get lights installed at the softball field. Wouldn't be surprised if we hear something soon on that as well

Does Boise State need to raise more funds for the North End Zone project to move forward or do they have the funding/financing that they need?

I’m also curious how this will impact the capacity of the stadium. Have there been any projections on that?

Not trying to be flippant here but there is always a need to raise more funds at Boise State  - ALWAYS.

And I may be wrong about this but I THOUGHT I read where the seating would be increased to 40,000 with this North endzone renovation.

I think the idea is to try and get the capacity around 40k and this would accomplish that by adding around 2500-3000 seats. Which still leaves room for possible expanded capacity in the future with enclosing the south side of the stadium. Its clear funds are still needed but must not be too far away from getting what they need if they are comfortable enough of creating a pretty short timeline. I believe the total estimate of getting everything done that JD and his want at Albertsons Stadium is roughly $130 million. This part of the project seems to range from $30mill-$40mill

I know it’s only about 3,000, but that seems like a significant increase to capacity. That would be a good step forward for the program.

It was disappointing that the previous administration wasn’t able to follow through with the plans for the east side renovation.

From what I read today on this the COST is estimated to be between 32 MILLION and 42 MILLION.  And to me that means more like 50 million.   IF that is accurate then it seems foolish to me to proceed with this for a paltry 3 to 6 thousand more football stadium seats.

I'm old and I remember when Bronco Stadium was built - to replace the old wooden bleachers - and I could be wrong but I don't think that 14,500 seat stadium cost anywhere remotely close to 32 million dollars even after accounting for inflation over time.  In 1974 they added 5,500 more seats to bring total capacity to 20,000.

I just looked it up and the cost for that 1968-1970 Bronco Stadium was 2.2 million dollars (for 14,500 seats) which equates to about 16.5 million in 2022 dollars.  So 32 to 50 million dollars seems insane for 3 to 6 thousand seats.

P.S. The record for attendance at Bronco Stadium (now Albertson's Stadium) is 34,137 according to this undated article on Bronco Stadium - https://www.idahoarchitectureproject.org/properties/bronco-stadium/

What you're missing is that they are not only adding the typical general admission style seating. They are trying to add loge seating and field level suites + a dining hall/club room to go along with a few more general admission seats on this NEZ project. That's where majority of this estimated amount comes from. If they were to only add 3k-5k more GA seating then you're maybe looking at $15-$20mill I'd bet. We simply cannot just go and add 10k seats all at once. I feel like our approach to how we have expanded the stadium over the years is the right way. Do it in small increments. Getting to 40k will be huge. May not seem like it but it will.

I do agree that the final number will be over the estimated projection. Don't think it hits $50mill but can see around the $42-$45mill range.

You let me know when they come up with the 45 million dollars in funding to do this then.

I don't know why sometimes you get worked up in conversations but if it bothers you that much then this will be my last post on here.

My guess is that they are making pretty good headway getting the funds they need if they are comfortable enough about putting a detailed timeline that isn't dated too far in advanced from now until the desired date to begin construction. I'm a little pessimistic on the timeline considering (mostly construction side of things) how long it took to get the new video board installed. Which still isn't even fully done. They are still working on finding some sort of cover for the back of it and the edges. Looks goofy right now with the extended sides sticking out 😂
