MWC Tourny chat

Are ya'll seeing the way NM is destroying AF? They have Jamaal Mashburn back and are putting AF through the woodchipper rn. I think it's gonna be a real tough game for BSU tomorrow and can't believe ppl on Twitter were saying this was the easier for path to win the conference tourny vs facing SDSU instead.

Is anyone gonna be at the game tomorrow?

Go Broncos!

I will be!

I think people meant by "easier path" is just that we matchup really well in area's where New Mexico isn't the strongest which is our interior guys and length at guards. They struggle with physical teams and that's exactly what we are. Excited for the matchup though. They have a lot riding on this game. They probably need to make it to championship Saturday to feel confident for Selection Sunday. So I fully expect we will see the best version of Lobo basketball tonight. Their fans always travel well to the Thomas and Mack so its going to be virtually a home game for them. Nonetheless excited to see our team continue to grow and try to bring home another banner this weekend!

I am here.  NM sure packed in the fans yesterday against AF and were relentless.  Theentire daycould be epic.  Looking forward to it and Go Broncos!

Watching USU vs FS and I think Great Osobor really plays for the foul. He's always crumpling and spasming when there is slight contact. He's great at a lot of things, but I really dislike watching him play.

Good thing the game was so late and I have to get up at 4 am for work the next morning.  I would have thrown my remote into the TV.  Another typical Rice team end of season collapse.   Rinse, wash, repeat; rinse, wash, repeat.....

Rice always gets his 20 wins; team starts slow, comes on raging during MWC season winning big games, fades in March.  The overused starters are spent, tired, worn out.  Yes we have a really good, athletic bench with Meadows, Keene, Young, Cam, but their play overall inconsistent.  Rice just fails at developing a consistently good bench like Dutcher, or Sprinkle this year.  Speaking of.... How can USU lose their coach and entire team, brings in a guy from a lower level Div 1 school with all new players, and dominate the conference with a door busting season?  Couldn't be a good coach who motivates his players and develops a good bench???  Nah.....

I know what I am saying will make folks angry, but then, that's life.  College basketball is big business, coaches need to be judged by their body of work.  Rinse, wash, repeat....  Dickey needs to make another tough decision, like with AA, for the good of the team and university.  Leon Rice is the guy you would love to be your neighbor, even coach your Pee-Wee BB team, have over for a BBQ and a beer. But he just seems to fall short every year.  Maybe we will get that first NCAA Tourney win and get that monkey off our back.  I really hope that happens.  But, Rice needs to find a way to get himself and the team to the next level, beyond  good to at least really good to great with tournament runs and wins.

Oh, and another thing.  Please, please, please, somebody please tell our coaches not use phrases like "never look at the scoreboard until 50 points (Ol' Half-a-hundred)", or "super team" anymore....

Go Broncos!

Leon built this program to where it is now. Getting rid of him is a terrible idea. The program is still on the rise and can still go on to do amazing things.... Leon Rice isn't the problem, the league becoming better and better every year is the issue....

I agree with you, but until BSU starts winning in March the nay-sayers wil only get louder.  A win in the NCAAs will go a long way in quieting the detractors.  Go Broncos!!!

@railroader Having watched Boise State basketball since Bus Conner, I think your impression of this program is short sighted and ignorant of the past. As to those opining about March Madness, who are the members of the NCAA Selection Committee and why are we going back to Dayton. At least we don't have to play the home team!

We have a play in game, hope they guys play with fire and get that first win.  Too bad we dropped so far, had a 8 or 9 seed in some brackets.  The tournament committee doesn't like us much, our past record doesn't help.

Go Broncos!
