Last year Boise State announced their 1st of 3 transfers for the Softball team

On July 18th - which is two days from today. That being the transfer of Lindsey Walljasper from the University of Charlotte. Then it wasn't until August 8th when it was announced that Kylie Baumert of the College of Southern Idaho,would be the 2nd transfer added to the 2023 Boise State softball team. And exactly one week later, on August 15th, it was announced that Morgan Flesland was going to be the third transfer to be added to the 2023 Boise State softball team.

This year there has only been one announcement about a transfer for the 2024 Boise State softball team. That being Jenna Bloom from Arkansas. And that announcement was made on May 26th (51 days ago).

Point being last year - at this time - there had been ZERO transfer announcements. This year there has already been one announcement and I am HOPING there will be at least a couple more.

Kassidy was a freshman at Utah Valley University last year. She appears to have played in nearly every game based on her stats. Probably a pinch hitter or maybe a base runner. She had a 1.000 fielding percentage last year with zero errors as shortstop (probably backup shortstop). She is probably very speedy running the bases, but only stole second twice. Her instagram post showing BSU gear, was posted six days ago.

One could assume that Justin has her penciled in as the backup shortstop here, but there is no heir apparent on the current roster so she could challenge for that spot. She has pitched in high school, but probably not here.

One of these days, we will see the fall schedule on the Broncosports website.

I went thru the box scores for every game she played in 2023 for Utah Valley. Kassidy started 6 games in Left Field and 2 games in Right Field. She played 8 games total in LF - and 9 games total in RF as well as two non-starting games in CF. She was a pinch hitter in 12 games and a pinch runner in 6 games and also appeared in one game as a DH.

But in H.S. her primary position (according to some or her H.S. recruiting webpages) was as a Shortstop.

What I don't get is that there has been no announcement about this. She is publicly in the transfer portal. Yet she hasn't posted anything on her twitter page about committing to Boise State. I would have thought that that would have been done by now.

I think Learfield is late on several announcements. It's been 10 days since two gymnasts showed up on twitter. And who knows what others are out there. I am still tracking one scholarship available in Women's Basketball since Anna Ostle transferred to Grand Canyon. It is possible that it went to a current walk-on, but even that hasn't been announced.

Looking back on the 3 transfers who were added to the team for the 2023 season back in 2022 only one of the three was a major contributor. That being Lindsey Walljasper.

Flesland did get in to a few games and frankly had the best E.R.A. on the team (can't get any better than an 0.00 E.R.A.). But she only appeared in 2 games all season long and pitched only 2 2/3rd innings total.

I never did learn what happened with Kylie Baumert so if the details were being kept secret I'd say they accomplished that.
