I thought the transfer portal was closed?

But according to this Ron Count's post Boise State's back-up Center is "in the portal"

Of course if he is a graduate he can enter the TP whenever he likes I suppose.

The craziest days of the tranfer portal end up being a day before and the day of the portal closing. Which means that since there are so many athletes putting their names in that sometimes they arent "officially" listed into the portal until a few days later. All the athletes have to do is put their names into the portal prior to closing date. If they do that then they are fine.

Shea Whiting entered the portal. This was brought up on the other board. Since we seem to have more players than allowed scholarships, more will leave.

Here are some tidbits from the other board. We may sign another LB next week, Syncere, and be 9 over the scholarship limits. Spring practices will be interesting.

One thing they do need to correct is LB Ukoka Ezeani is listed as a freshman but is actually a redshirt junior. Also they still have OL Ethan Carde on roster even though he has declared for the draft and been reported that he is out of eligibility. Makes me wonder if they are trying to bring him back with a waiver from the NCAA. That is just me speculating though.

Another thing to note is if my scholarship count is correct that BSU is 8 scholarship over the limit for the fall. That doesn't even include LB Syncere Brackett who I think will sign next week for BSU. We should expect a lot of transfer movement after spring ball.

I saw that but he is one off on his count. I show 94 scholarship players in my count and I haven't had Shea Whiting included since the early signing day. It was mentioned (somewhere) that he would not be returning for 2024. Now it appears he MIGHT appear somewhere else but not here. Given his lack of production it's not at all surprising (just an opinion - not meant as a slight to him).

My figure does not include the LB who is said to be a 247 Crystal Ball pick for Boise State. As I don't include people unless they are actually known to be a member of the team. Guess we will find out about him next Wednesday. If he does sign with Boise State that would up my count to 95 - meaning 10 current scholarship players will be leaving the team between now and next August. Either that or one - or two - of the true freshmen who are thought to be joining the team next August will instead be grey-shirted.

I would never mention anyone by name but I look at the players on the projected 2024 Boise State football team and I see the following as possible candidates as far as scholarship players who MAY not be on the team come next August.

3 wide receivers

2 offensive linemen

3 defensive linemen

1 linebacker

So even if all nine of them leave the team between now and next August and they sign the LB next Wednesday they would still be one over on scholarships.
