Fresno State recap

Very ugly game all around for us. Felt like our 2nd poor effort from the season. Not quite as bad as the Charlotte game but still not great. What I will say though is that in a sicko kind of way I'm glad this type of game happened to us in conference. To me this felt like our guys having a bit of mental fatigue. Lacked energy and overall body language looked gassed and tired. Not really poor effort. Just not making smart plays. Max had a pretty rough night himself in the turnover department. 7 of the 19 total TO's came from him and I believe 6 of them were in the first half. The puzzling part is that most of them were unforced. Simple chest passes he could not make. If it weren't for him having 8 points on efficient shooting I think Leon would have had to bench him. Leon rode with the starters pretty much the entire game. Most bench minutes we got was 9 from both Kobe Young and Milner. Whiting only saw a couple mins and no other player saw any time.

1st half: Ugly. Not much positive to take away from it other than we shot pretty well late in the half % wise. We had 15 first half turnovers and 5 of them I swear came in the last 1:30 of the half. Very fortunate to only have been down 2 at the break. Thought Coach Burns was going to start throwing chairs around with how intense he was during each timeout lol.

2nd half: Much better overall game. Still pretty sloppy at times but yet we were able to consistently bury open looks and allow our shooters to take over. Defense stayed stout and didn't really allow much of anything. We did get beat quite a bit inside when the PG would drive it and either make an acrobatic layup or drive and find his C cutting towards the bucket for a easy lay in. It is what it is but if teams have a productive and natural Center, we are in big trouble. Deggie and Smith can only stand their ground for so long before the size and strength of Centers start to wear them down over the course of a game.

Well, I know I did my part to help Boise State win that BB game last night.  Whenever I watch a Boise State BB they play like crap while I am watching.

Last night I watched pretty much from the beginning after the announcer on FS1 finally said that the Boise State game was being aired on FS2.  So I start watching and Boise State was already trailing 0-5 I think.  Then Boise State turned it over twice (I think) and trailed 0-7.  So I quit watching the game.

I tuned in again, later in the first half, and Boise State had apparently closed the gap but as soon as I started watching they once again started playing like crap.

SO..........I just stopped watching and did something else.

RESULT - Boise State wins by 10

Good synopsis BSUaddict, the boys did look tired. There were many misses that hit the front of the rim.  I was surprised that they shot 48.9%.  Lack of bench minutes and contribution certainly continue to concern me.  The MW is a very good conference this year and recent games have been intense, which has got to be wearing down the starters. Hopefully Leon will be able to play a lot more reserves on Saturday against Colorado State.  There is a lot of talent on this team beyond the starting 5. May have to trust some of these players more in order to get the starters more rest.  Go Broncos!

We are so lucky that this wasn't a Quad 4 loss.  I watched the game from the comforts of my living room, good thing as I was hitting a blue streak with all of the poor play.  If Fresno wasn't something like shooting 8% on 3's, 2-25, or, less than 50% on free throws, we would all be gnashing our teeth in frustration.  The boys got to pick it up for Colorado State this weekend.

Go Broncos!
