The other thing I wonder about is was SD the first choice of JD?  He alluded in his tweet this weekend for patience in the process and said something about negotiations changing.  Correct me if I am wrong.  Did JD change his mind to SD when the players all came out publicly for SD to save the team short-term?  If Choate was the original top choice, Lord Help Us.

SD was an emotional hire, a tactical hire.  We needed a strategic hire for the longer term.  If the intent was to keep the team together in this free agency NIL world, see TG, then it has failed.  Lots of team are losing players, some 4,000 has entered the portal today.  Not the best choice then since a longer view is better.  As long as we do not lose Jeanty or Breezy we should be alright.  Remember, it is Tiller or Fulton for the LA Bowl, zero game experience for all practical purposes.

The emotional hire thing is starting to get old and worn out. Any hire is going to be emotional. Point blank. The players being vocal about their support coach probably played a part but not as big as people are led to believe. Player retention was also probably a big factor but at the end of the day we were going to lose players no matter what.

We all have trusted JD, why waiver now? Lets give Coach D the support and see what he can do. I think he is honestly the ideal hire and he wasnt my personal first choice. But im going support him as if he was and going to do whatever I can to help make sure his tenure is a successful one.
