Conference play

Next 2 games should be games thar get us back into the swing of things after Christmas break. After that a bunch of tough conference games.  I think we will be 6 and 2 or 7 and 1 on January 31st.

@SJSU vs.well coached squad.

home vs. top 25 CSU

@top 30 UNR

home vs. athletic UNLV

home vs. final4 SDSU

——very tough stretch right now—-

Would be ecstatic with a 3-2 record but not surprised if  go 1-4 or 2-3. Really need to win these tough home games to stay on yhe right side of the bracket because road games in conference are not going to come easy late in the season.

Conference play begins tonight at SJ, 8:30 on FS1.  They need to take care of business which I have a feeling they will.  Should be an exciting ride, Go Broncos!

Slow start for the Broncos, can’t afford to do this on Tuesday!  Anderson needs to figure out how to not turn the ball over…

By far the worst half I’ve seen all year.  One guy…one guy, Myron Amey scored 25 of 40 in the 1st half.  Someone needs to shut him down.  Omar Stanley has kept BSU close with 15.  Need a strong 2nd half for sure.  Go Broncos!

A W is a W.  BSU by nine.  Stanley had 30 and was a beast all night long.  Glad they held Amey to 5 second half points.  Next game is Tuesday at the X against #13 Colo St.  Go Broncos!

Time to review the prediction at the beginning of this thread. I said maybe 7 and 1 or 6-2. Certainly didn't expect to lose to both UNLV and Utah State at home. Now 6 and 2. Bench playing better. Both pg playing better as well. Winning even when Tyson doesn't play his best game.  Good things coming in the near future.

I have watched a lot of basketball.  I go to all the BSU games.  One thing is for sure is that nothing is for sure.

UNLV- Lose by four at the X.  Nobody accounted for Robert Whaley jr. (son of an NBA player) to have his best game.  Except they should have.  He was recruited out of CSI heavily by BSU, but BSU brought in Omar.  He was motivated and came in off the bench for 18.  Add to that, Omar had a fairly standard game, but got in foul trouble and BSU couldn't make up the difference.  I don't remember the refs or any glaring bad calls (there are always a few).  The real factor was Whaley jr.  Pretty much a non factor in most of the other UNLV games.

USU - Loss in OT.  Some of the worst refs this year.  They compounded bad calls against USU with even worse call against BSU.  This was a win, but lapse of defense (and an unfortunate FT miss) made it a loss.  Lesson learned - USU is a better team than I expected.  And when Max is bad he can cost BSU the win.  I am not trashing him (even before UNM).  I think he is a real asset to the team in so many ways.  But, FT misses and bunny shot after bunny shot rolling off the rim, there might be a time to get Buzo or Omar the ball.  As far as OT, the team that hits a shot to send it to OT generally has momentum.

So the margin of having a ranked team and a team sitting in the 40s is that much.  Yes if BSU had won those two games at home, BSU would ranked.  Fortunately a win at UNM keeps BSU in the game.  But they can't afford a lapse against AFA.

Go Broncos.
