Quote from Railroader on November 23, 2023, 12:13 pmHere's is what one poster on Bronco Country posted as his little tidbit on the coaching search. Supposedly he has an inside source. Take it for what it's worth.
Time for an update. What I'm told now is that Byron Leftwich is now OUT of the running to replace Andy Avalos.
I'm hearing that Kellen Moore is a possibility. Supposedly, Moore is not happy in Los Angeles. There is a verbal plan in place if he's hired to also add Chris Petersen, and he'll be the assistant coach. As you can imagine this has created a problem money wise for Boise. The boosters would need to step up big time. As of right now the ball is literally in the fundraising court.
The committee really loves Kirby Moore. They are enamored with his charisma and potential to be a leader. He's above Kellen in these attributes but lacks experience as compared to him. It's weird to me that they are in competition for the job.
Furthermore, Oklahoma OC Jeff Lebby has show an interest in the job according to my source. He's one of the final 8, I'm told.
Vigen is not a serious contender for the job. He's only being discussed to temper the expectations of fans. He won't be Boise's HC. It's purely a defensive media strategy.
Choate is a realistic possibility if all of the other better candidates drop out or can't be retained.
Another known candidate according to my source is Brian Borland the DC for Kansas. However, my source feels like this won't happen because he's older and the program wants a leader with fresher energy.
Now, a Kellen/Pete combo would be a fantastic get. Wonder where the boosters will get all that money just for them, and their assistants? We don't have a Phil Knight in our back pocket..... 🙂
Go Broncos!
And Happy Thanksgiving!

Im not buying what that poster is trying to sell. His Leftwich comments in earlier topics were a red flag but was waiting it out to see if in fact the plane was there in Florida to potentially interview him. As BJ has said on his socials. He knows who owns that plane and has even flown on it before and that trip to Florida it made was not coach search related. So its hard for me to give any real credibility to his other statements even if they were to be true afterall.

Quote from ColterRey on November 23, 2023, 11:51 pmI also have a hard time believing coach Pete would be an assistant coach. Sounds too sensational to be true.

Quote from Gregor Mathews on November 24, 2023, 8:10 amThe posts on Bronco Country are mostly friendly banter and conjecture using “my sources” and “I’m told” are easy lead-ins to add the illusion of credibility. JD has his methodology in place - Steady Wins the Race - We’ll know soon enough and back that HC also, but with this time Our Eyes Wide Open and loving yet critical support.

No doubt. Some of the posters (not just mods) legitimately know things going on behind the scenes. Love the BC forums as much as I love the community here as well. The more places to be able to chat about the school/team/players we love the better!

Quote from tim5544 on November 25, 2023, 2:47 pmThe timing for Kellen is likely better than it has ever been. Chargers head coach likely to get fired, and who knows if Kellen would be elevated or not. Or if he would be retained for next year. No guarantee Kellen is an OC in the NFL next year. Not saying Kellen would want to come here, but it the timing is much better this time than before. We were going into a bidding war with Jerry Jones and not surprisingly lost.
Kirby would be interesting. So young, but an up and comer for sure. Someone will hire him as a head coach for next year if we don't.
I have said I don't think Danielson is a serious candidate. But new coach will very likely retain him as DC
