The Boise State men's tennis team, with former Boise State tennis star player Luke Shields as their head coach, won the 5th overall Mountain West Conference championship yesterday.
In the first round of the championships, last Wednesday, Boise State, the # 3 Seed, defeated the # 6 Seed San Diego State 4-2.
On Thursday the # 3 Seeded Boise State men's tennis team upset the # 2 Seeded Nevada in a close 4-3 match.
On Friday, in the championship matches, # 3 Seeded Boise State defeated # 4 Seeded Utah State (which had defeated # 1 Seeded New Mexico 4-3 on Thursday) by a score of 4-2 to win the Mountain West Conference's 2023 Men's Tennis championship.
Next week the Boise State men's tennis team will be the Mountain West's automatic qualifier in the NCAA tournament. The brackets for the NCAA tournament will be released at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
