Boise State players entering the transfer portal

Kivon Wright - DE/STUD - 2023 RS FR - Zero starts. Played in only four games this season. He was the guy who transferred from Boston College last summer. So his next school will be his third in two and a half years (assuming there is a third).

In the four non-starting games that he played in this season he was credited with 1 solo and 2 assisted tackles with 0 sacks or TFL, etc.

What to watch for today is whether any significant players enter the portal from BSU. I'm sure, nationwide, that it will be a busy portal day, hopefully not for us on player loss. Lots of NIL money may be thrown at Jeans or TG. SD will have to do a good salesman job to keep them and hopefully pick up some more fast DB's to help out secondary.

Since the NCAA won't do it, Congress needs to. A law that says a player can enter the portal one time with no penalty. The second time will be a 1 year loss of eligibility. Also, a NIL law that limits what a player can get. The Nebraska coach said a good QB would cost up to $2 million in NIL to get off the portal. This is crazy.... College sports are being ruined by the money game.

I think you must be extremely optimistic to believe that Congress will act on this. Call me skeptical if you want but in my 69 years on this planet the very last thing I would expect to act on something would be Congress. I hope you're right and I'm wrong. But I don't see that happening.

Wow - now Tiller will have to be our starter. Waiting for the other shoe to drop with Jeanty, both were buds. Sigh.

So TG celebrated SD becoming the coach and then pulls the rug out from underneath him. Et tu Brutus?

This is what happens when NIL and transfer portal are parts of the NCAA football landscape. Which is why I was screaming last summer that Boise State was going to need more than just 3 scholarship quarterbacks.

The only two QB's (other than a true FR local walk-on) are Fulton and Tiller.

I'm just hoping the other shoe doesn't drop and I'm sure you know what "shoe" I am referring to here. First it was McAlister. Now it's Green...................

I am expecting it. The problem with Jeanty transferring is that he will likely be one of two things: a one and done going to the NFL or battling another RB for carries. Either one could be bad for Jeanty. First he is a BSU product that will be highly regarded in Boise for life. If he transfers, he is there for one year and never becomes part of the landscape of that school. The team might have problems in the locker or with his coach. So much more. At the end of the year, he is off to the NFL or off to another school where it happens again.

Hopefully he can get some $$ here and becomes satisfied to be one of the greatest players in BSU history. He is drafted in the first or second round next year and he has a fan base for life.

It is a Christmas wish of mine.

This is gonna happen to multiple teams every year now which I’m sure will get old for everyone fast. Ohio States starting QB just entered the portal. If it can happen to them it’ll happen just about everywhere. Hopefully with bigger schools buying the veteran starting QBs the smaller schools like Boise State are able to convince some of the top true freshman to commit and start year one. But this is gonna suck for college football until everyone finally decides there has to be some kind of transfer restriction and NIL rules.
