Article in today's SLC newspaper about B.Y.U.'s injuries

and the fact that they have not had a bye week and won't have one until after the Boise State game.  Here are some quoted parts of this article in today's Salt Lake Tribune newspaper:

"BYU has started 42 different players season. That is tied for the third-most in the country after New Mexico (47) and Texas A&M (43). There have been 19 different starters on offense and 23 on defense."

"Starting linebackers Max Tooley and Payton Wilgar were out last week and aren’t practicing this week. Starting running back Chris Brooks has missed games and will likely miss another on Saturday. BYU’s leading receiver, Kody Epps, is out for the year."

"Safety Malik Moore is out for the season."

"The wide receiver room hasn’t played a single game with its best three receivers healthy. Gunner Romney played in just two games. Puka Nacua has been in and out. Freshman Chase Roberts hasn’t made it through the year unscathed either."

That just tells me there is a lack of talented depth.  Not good for a team headed to the Big 12 next year.

My take on that article is that the writer apparently isn't aware that EVERY college football team is dealing with injured players and their replacements after 10 games.  B.Y.U. is no different in that regard than anyone else.  Boise State, for instance, lost TWO starters in their very first game, i.e., Austin Bolt was injured on the very first play of the season and Markel Reed was also injured and seems to be out for the rest of the season.

I know that Marco Notarainni and George Tarlas were also lost for the season due to injuries.  Who else am I not recalling here that was also lost for the season.  Jared Reed....... Ben Dooley?  Dooley has not played at all this season and there's been no word (as far as I know) as to whether or not he will ever play this season.

Oh, and Boise State also lost their starting QB..................but in all honesty that seems to have made the team player better since his departure (not being unkind here - just being honest).
