SDSU - Is there a chance?

SDSU is 7-0 at home.

Scheduled games at UNLV and Wyo were cancelled, so they could be pretty fresh.

Losses were against BYU, USC and Mich.  Our losses were against Irvine (losing record), St. Louis (not stellar), St Bonn (what happened to them), and CS Bakersfield (Unbelievable).

SDSU Positives:  SDSU has always been a solid defensive team.  They rebound well and are aggressive guarding the perimeter.  They are physical and will man up as good as any team if the refs allow it.  They hit 33% 3pt as a team, but two players hit over 40% ( Butler and Seiko). Mensah has 33 blocks this season.  They take care of the ball OK and average 12 turnovers. They have confidence with their win agains CSU.

SDSU Negative:  SDSU's Mensah gets fouled a lot (2nd on the team) but makes 50% FTs.  They have only one player that averages double digits in scoring (Bradley), but several that are just under 10.

BSU Positives:  11 straight wins. Three active players that average over 10 per game (Shaver, Akot, Kigab) plus Deggie averaging nine. Three players that are near 40% 3pt per game (Akot(wow), Shaver and Deggie).  At this point of the season, this is a pretty cohesive unit. They rebound well (Armus 9.5pPG).  They are usually good defenders on the perimeter as well as near the bucket.  I think this team believes, which is hard to quantify.

BSU Negative:  Free throws. (Armus 32%, Akot and Kigab about 60%), Turnovers.  Winning at SDSU.  (I had more written, but BJ logged me off, so here it is)

I think this is 50-50.  My heart says BSU will win, I just can't convince my head.

Yah, I’d have it more 70/30 in SDSUs favor. But definitely a chance.

Over/under is 121.5. I think attacking the mid-range is key. Not going to get many points at the basket with Mensah underneath. And they guard well beyond the arc.

Of just attempt a bunch of way-deep threes which seemed to be the strategy last season. Team shot 40 threes in the first game and 26 in the second!! And only at a 25% clip.

Down by 2 at the half…will see if there are any legs left in the 2nd half.  Go Broncos!

RU kidding me?  Going to SDSU and steal another win while holding the Aztecs to 37 points!  This game was ugly, but which game hasn’t been lately. Go Broncos!

The Shaver MVP circus is still rolling.

Deggie's stat line was pretty impressive hitting 8 of 8 FTs and 3 of 6 FG. He had some key rebounds.  A few too many turnovers (5) but two were bad passes that he got charged with. The refs let them play, but were pretty quick to call offensive fouls on both teams.

I have to say the Mensah v. Armus battle was hard fought.  Mensah bested him with 10 points and an additional rebound. But it was two men putting it out on the floor.

The CBS announcers were only a bit better than the home grown USU announcers.  When SUDS started to comeback, the announcers showed how much they hoped SUDS would win.

Another hard game to watch, but in the end the guys pulled together to get the win. Go Broncos.
