Bronco Nation News is catching up with Boise State football commits ahead of the Dec. 15 early signing period. Next up in our subscriber-only series is offensive lineman Hall Schmidt from Gig Harbor, Washington.
Three-star offensive lineman Hall Schmidt from Peninsula High School in Gig Harbor, Washington, said signing with the Broncos on Wednesday will be “a day I’ve been looking forward to ever since I was little.”
Schmidt committed to the Broncos back in early July. Boise State was his only offer at the time, but he’s since picked a pair of Pac-12 offers. Despite the interest from Arizona and Washington State he told Bronco Nation News he’s sticking with the first FBS school to give him a chance – Boise State.
“I went on my unofficial visit in June and when I went (to Boise State) it just felt like home – it felt like a great family vibe,” Schmidt said. “I had a couple FCS offers but wanted to play FBS football and it was the only FBS offer I had so I decided to take it. I got a couple more offers after I committed but they weren’t good enough.”
Schmidt confirmed Arizona offered a few months ago and Washington State just came in with a late offer last week, but he said he remains 100 percent committed to the Broncos and plans to sign on Wednesday.
“It’s like a family there,” Schmidt said. “Coach Avalos has brought that family (feel) into the program, and it’s kind of like my school now, so I had to join.
“I’m so excited. It’s a day I’ve been looking forward to ever since I was little.”
Schmidt sat down with Bronco Nation News to talk about his commitment to the Broncos and preparing to sign on Dec. 15. This is a subscriber-only video, so thanks for being a subscriber to Bronco Nation News:
