Boise State and athletic director Jeramiah Dickey have agreed to a contract extension, a source confirmed to Bronco Nation News on Tuesday.
Pete Thamel of ESPN was first to report the deal.
Dickey, who has been at Boise State since January 2nd, 2021, was in the mix for the vacant athletic director position at Houston – where he previously worked.
Terms of the new deal are unclear, but Thamel reported the extension is through the 2028-29 school year. That would be an additional three years on the current deal, which was slated to expire after the 2025-26 year.
A Boise State official couldn’t immediately confirm the report.
Dickey is making $435,095 this year and was scheduled to make $443,797 during 2025-26 year. He’s expected to get a significant raise as part of the three-year extension.
It’s unknown whether the deal will be an entirely new five-year deal, or be described as a three-year extension to the current deal.
“Jeramiah Dickey is a 10 out of 10,” football coach Spencer Danielson said recently. “As the head football coach here, the amount of support he gives me, the amount of trust I have in him, is through the roof. He’s a guy who is a relentless worker, he’s always on the hustle to push our athletic programs forward, and I talk to a lot of different head coaches, and it’s not that way everywhere, to have an athletic director who is sold out to be part of Bronco Nation, this athletic department and to push it to new heights.
“Jeramiah Dickey, how important he is to our football program and our athletic department as a whole, he is extremely valuable. … It’s a huge deal for our football program and our university to make sure Jeramiah Dickey is our athletic director.”
Boise State has seen unprecedented levels of fundraising success under Dickey, in addition to success on the field. The football team is coming off a Mountain West Championship, while the men’s basketball team has made each of the past three NCAA Tournaments for the first time in program history.
Several other sports have seen success and improvements under Dickey including new lights for the soccer team and both a new lights and scoreboard for the softball team.
