Casey Kline entering the transfer portal

I have to wonder about his scholarship and where that scholarship might end up.

Since Kline was a linebacker who recently was moved to Tight End this fall does that scholarship end up going to a Tight End or a Linebacker or someone else?

If it were up to me - which it obviously is NOT - I'd give it to the one walk-on quarterback on the team, i.e., Colt Fulton (6' 4" 195 lbs).   Lots of teams have 5 scholarship QB's.  And it's good to have a lot of scholarship QB's on your football team (as multiple QB departures of the recent past has shown) in the event of the team losing more than one QB to injury.

Either that or give it to the most deserving walk-on on the team.  But I wouldn't know who that might be.

I thought we were still over the limit? Have you done the math recently?

WR Jalen Richmond in the portal today as well.

I heard we had 107 players before Noa, former USU running back, joined the team to put us at 108 max for the team.  Now the scholarship limit is 85 so we have lots of walk-ons, grey shirts to reach the max.

I also think we are still paying for the Harsin debacle.  Hars, or Brian, depending on his mood (ask Drinkwitz) never really used his players to the best advantage.  He stuck with his favorites and the others who didn't win his favors were stuck in neutral with their development.  It looks like AA and his coaches are spreading the wealth of experience and are holding everybody accountable for playing time.  Lets hope we get better development of our players under AA and keep the players.

With the recent departures (TP) my count is now down to 84 scholarship players, i.e., one under the NCAA limit.

I hope he can find a place to play, he spend several years here and basically never got on the field.  With 3 experienced  senior tight ends I don't believe he would have played much this year.  Can't blame a kid for wanting to be on the field.  Unfortunately he was quite the bust as a HS recruit.
