Utah State post game

First half we really could do no wrong on either side of the ball. Defense was controlling the game and the offense started to find their rhythm through the air quite nicely. Couple things I was kind of disappointed in was it seemed like we were giving up great field position with bad punts and of course the first scoring drive for Utah State with no time left. Had chances to get off the field on 3rd downs and just couldn't get it done.

2nd half.... well you definitely could tell what the mindset was after we went up 28-10. We were hoping that we would be able to control the clock and eventually just wear down Utah States defense and condense the game as much as we could but we were simply not able to do so. I am in no way mad with that decision either. Defense really struggled at points to get off the field when given the chances. utah State went from being like 0-9 on 3rd downs in the first half to 6-9 in the 2nd. Utah State made some good adjustments that allowed Legas to throw more in rhythm and find route concepts that our DBs struggled with containing. Unfortunately we ended up with a few more guys getting banged up along the defense which I really do feel like aided Utah States comeback bid. Was really funny seeing Taylen break loose on his TD run but you know the coaches are going to be irritated that he didn't go down after he got the first so we could just run out the clock lol. Secondary continues to be a huge question mark even if we are at full strength. If our front 7 cannot create pressure our DBs have a hard time covering WRs. Which is very concerning when Fresno State will presumably have a healthy Haener next week and no defense has slowed him down all season long.

Overall I am happy with how the guys finished the game. We had to see a ton of younger guys step up in critical moments of the game and come up big for us cause of injuries during the game.  I know there will be the typical bitching and moaning from fans about how we let them back in the game but it also needs to be said as well that Utah State had been playing pretty damn well coming into this game. Thats why i thought this was going to be a lot closer than what some people really thought. They have some serious speed on offense that I thought would give us problems. Im just glad we were able to come up with a couple stops when we needed to and finish the regular season undefeated in conference!

I say we fire the offensive coordinator................oh WAIT.............we already did that two months ago.
