The Utah State game point spread going up

Page 1 of 2Next

This game opened with a 10 point spread (-10 with Boise State) then quickly dropped down to 9 points as 60 percent of the initial bets were on Utah State.  Then later Sunday the line jumped up to Boise State -14 and 14 1/2 points.  Now, on Monday, the line is Boise State -15 1/2 and -16 1/2 points (depending on where you place your bet).

I no longer bet on football games as I sucked at that pastime but IF I still did bet on football games I would have to take the points.  I see this being a close game.  I certainly don't see Boise State winning by 17 or more points.

Wonder if we will try to rest some starters in this game or at least rotate in back ups more frequently than normal?    We have the championship game already set.  This game won't affect that.

I certainly hope not.  As I commented on Saturday or Sunday that sort of strategy always seems to backfire when it's tried. There's only one way to play a game - full tilt - IMO.  Either bring your best or stay home.

I expect the game to be closer than the spread, USU has a good QB and they are playing much better.  This could be a true trap game with the MW Championship against FSU the next week. As for slacking to save players, again, nope.  The fan base expect 10 plus win seasons, it has been our standard since Kellen's time.  A victory here would put us at 9-3 with two chances to get that 10th win, or even to be 11-3.  The coaches need to keep the team sharp and focused, slacking will foil the rhythm.

Go Broncos!

I started to re-watch that San Jose State @ Utah State game from last Saturday last night.   The telecast didn't start until there was about 10 minutes left in the 1st quarter due to the previous game going long.  But San Jose State had already scored a TD when the telecast began.  I watched the Utah State QB (Legas) throw one interception and if the San Jose State DB's could catch a football they would have had three interceptions in the first half (minimum).  One pass that Legas threw went directly to a SJS db who was standing in the end zone.  It hit him right in the bread-basket and he just dropped it.

Point being is Legas may not be the good QB I said he was.   He played well in the 2nd half of that game but the first half he was pretty awful and should be very thankful that the SJS defensive backs can't catch a thrown football pass.

As it was he ended up throwing 2 interceptions in that game but it COULD have been at least 4 interceptions or more.

Legas is a streaky passer but couple things he has going for him is that he is tough as nails (former state champion wrestler) and is not afraid to take chances with the ball.

The point spread for the Utah State game has gone up again.  Now it's 16 1/2 points at most sports books and 17 points on at least one sports book.  And there's still 52 hours till game time.

You have to wonder what inside information those bookies are getting?  I expect a double digit win but these bookies are saying a potential curb stomping. Are Kellen and Pettis coming back for one game?  🙂

Go Broncos?

Well Boise State was a 14 1/2 point favorite @ Wyoming last week and look how that turned out.   Wasn't Boise State also favored to beat B.Y.U. as well?  Sometimes Las Vegas is wrong.

The point spread on this game continues to go up (again).  Now seven out of the ten sports books have Boise State as a 17 point favorite - as compared to just one yesterday having Boise State as a 17 point favorite.
