The NCAA softball transfer portal

The NCAA transfer portal for Softball opens again next Monday (May 15th) and closes roughly six weeks later on Wed. June 28th.

It will be interesting to see which players on the nine Mountain West softball teams choose to put their names into the T.P.  Including Boise State.

It will also be very interesting - to me at least - as to who Justin Shults and his staff bring in for next season from that very same transfer portal.   At the very least I think they will have to add at least one experienced pitcher. Preferably two more.  They can't keep depending almost entirely on Taylor Caudill (Like San Jose State does with Ullegue).

In a graduation tweet, Hall said she will be here next year.

This team should be pretty attractive to upperclass players.  We lose some really good players, but the future is encouraging.

The Softball transfer portal is now open and there is already one MWC player in the portal.  That being now former Fresno State third baseman Mackenna Steele.   Steele started 28 games in 2022 at 3B and batted .239 that season.  But when Bella Rocco arrived she apparently was put on the bench.  It appears that she played in only ONE game in 2023 as a Junior.  She also started 1 game as a Freshman (at 3B) in 2021.

P.S. The last transfer from Fresno State that Boise State signed seems to have worked out pretty well.
