OC search

It's amazing how secretive the OC search has been. SD took lessons from Dickey. Not a peep anywhere online; even our super snooper @b.j.rains hasn't reported a peep. Spring practices have started everywhere, ours delayed, that it will get harder to find a really good OC. Hope we have made the pick and just negotiating dollars. Excited to see who we announce this week. Has to be really soon, to get ready for spring practice.

Ive always made the joke that its probably 1000x's easier to break into Fort Knox than it is to get any credible coaching leaks from Boise State 😂. I think we will see the announcement as soon as tomorrow (Tuesday as im typing this) and hopefully no later than Friday. I think its safe to assume Tuesday-Wednesday will be the announcement though

A one year deal. SD must have not been too excited with the prospective OC's from other schools. Hope this works out well.

The way I read it, its more of the timing that probably dictated this. Supposedly interviewed 20 candidates. Granted having a full year of Koetter who is familiar with a lot of this roster + scheme just makes the most sense considering the timing. Plus I imagine this also helps set up a guy like Potter to be the full time OC come 2025. I imagine both Potter and Miller will be shadowing Koetter more closely this year than they did in 2022.

Agree. Bush really left Boise State hanging on that one. After Bush agreed to that contract extension SD had no reason to even consider looking around for an OC for the last couple months. By now I’m guessing any quality coach that’s in Boise States price range was probably already locked in somewhere next season. At least they have this ace up their sleeve. Koetter has really stepped up for this program the last few years. We’re lucky to have him around.
