"Howard was a dual-threat quarterback at Lincoln College Prep in Missouri." And the story also related that he was up to 288 lbs as a H.S. Senior dual-threat QB.  I don't know about anyone else but for me that's hard to comprehend.

The story also had this about Howard:  "He finished his high school career with more than 3,000 passing yards and almost 4,000 rushing yards."

This is a new beefy O-line player from Texas Tech.  A grad transfer, 6'8" 325 pounds.

With him only having 1 year left, you know he didn't come to just ride the pine. He's a swing player as well so could fill in at either guard or tackle. I wonder if there is a possibility of moving Beredsford to LT and trying out Carde at RT or vice versa. Interior wise we seem pretty set on guys from last season. Kage Casey and Carde seem like ideal fits at either Tackle spots and most likely will see healthy competition between the 2 when fall camp comes around.

Having written that here tho that leaves three starting guards for two spots - as I see it.  That being Garrett Curran, Mason Randolph and Ben Dooley.   Does one of them move to Center?

Here's how I see it after the addition of Carde:

LT - Cade Beresford - 6th year SR - OR Ethan Carde - 5th year SR

LG - Garrett Curran - 6th year SR

C - Mason Randolph - RS SO

RG - Ben Dooley - RS SR

RT - Cade Beresford - 6th year SR - OR Ethan Carde - 5th year SR

 

NOTE that three of these five players will be using their last year of eligibility next fall (unless there is a major - season ending - injury to someone in the first four games).  And if Ben Dooley doesn't choose to use his Extra year of eligibility Randolph MAY be the only returning starter for the 2024 season.
