Its crazy to me that this is the SDSU team that made it to the Final 4. 2020 I thought was their absolute best chance at a national championship (Utah State was crazy good that year as well) and felt kind of bad they didnt even get the chance due to covid. Granted this tourney has been upset central moreso compared to previous years but its still insane. Depth wise they are elite but overall talent? Defensively they are awesome but not nearly as good offensively as prior teams they have had which makes this even more insane. Matt Bradley who is probably their best all around offensive player is only averaging 8 points per game in the tourney. Butler and Trammel have kind of taken over the offensive game for them. They have fully bought into the fact that they are not going to win shootouts but they are preventing games from being shootouts at the same time. Just getting enough out of their guys to secure the win. I dont think a lot of Power 5 bias analysts realize how well they match up even against the blue blood programs. They can match any team in size, length and physicality. IF you don't make your shots against them, have fun of playing 40 minutes of hell against their team defense.
Side note: Its also pretty funny that if they accepted a power 5 invite this offseason (If not when) they will see NONE of this money they have earned the conference and it'll be distributed between all the current MW members. But im sure if they got into a P5 that would lessen the sting a bit
