Is it time to replace.................

The Boise State volleyball team has lost 8 straight games and is currently tied with the Air Force team that just beat Boise State in 3 straight sets for 8th place (out of 11 teams).  This is primarily (with a few exceptions) the same Boise State volleyball that won the MWC tournament championship last season.

The question is.....................is it time to replace Shawn Garus as the Boise State head volleyball coach?  Garus has achieved a lot at Boise State.  Two MWC championships in 13 years.  Two-time MWC coach of the year.  AVCA Pacific North Region Coach of the year (2016), etc.   BUT perhaps it's time for a change.

And losing to one of the very worst MWC volleyball teams in three straight sets???  Whatever was working for him very clearly appears to be in the past at this point.

No I don't think so.  Boise State women won the MWC volleyball tournament last year and their best players are underclassmen.  It's a streaky non-revenue sport so firing a coach doesn't make any sense and is bad for the long-term stability and culture of the program.

It's true that Boise State won the MWC championship tournament last year but you have to keep in mind that Boise State was the 6th (last) seed in that tourament last season.  In other words they barely qualified to make it to the tournament last season as only six teams go each year.  They pulled off some big upsets in that tournament - granted - but they were still the last team in the MWC to qualify for that tournament.  They beat the # 3 Seed (San Jose State) in their first game and then beat the # 2 Seed (Utah State) in the semi-finals and then beat the host school and # 4 Seed U.N.L.V. in the finals.  Now this season they didn't qualify at all.
