Apparently I was wrong on this as Skylar Stroh is Boise State's 2nd commit for 2024.  The first was Abigail Dowell of Iowa Park H.S. in Iowa Park, Texas (Texas Glory summer team).  So the 2024 Boise State softball commits (to date) are:

  1. Abigail Dowell - LHP / 1B - Iowa Park H.S. - Iowa Park, TX.
  2. Skylar Stroh - SS / 3B - Heritage H.S. - Brentwood, CA

Speaking of Heritage H.S. in Brentwood, CA., two of the eight signees for Boise State in their 2022 recruiting class are also from Heritage H.S. in Brentwood, CA.  Namely LHP Kasey Aquinaga and SS/2B Taci Haase.  So with Skylar Stroh that makes three new recruits / verbal commits from that one H.S. in Brentwood, CA., scheduled to be joining the Boise State softball team in 2023 and 2024.

That’s a whole lot of girls coming in wow. I suppose that will foster competition in certain positions.  I have to believe there will be a transfer pitcher coming in next year too if they have a successful year, coach Shults has a solid network,  but maybe not as the team will have a lot of girls.

Well there are six Seniors on the 2022 team and there is always attrition that takes place so when they signed eight new players last month that seems about right.

Yes, Just to note E. Flores has another year of eligibility.

Apparently there are - to date - THREE Boise State softball commits for 2023-2024.  This latest addition has been committed to Boise State softball since last December.

That being Leah McAnally (C/1B/3B) of Edmond Memorial H.S. in Edmond, OK.

Yes she does have one more year if she decides to take it.

A few players might not decide to come back.  Sadly we will not have Lalor next year.  Unfortunately she played three years of basketball before coming to BSU.  Also, I have heard of one pitcher that might not come back next year.  One of the drawbacks of having a good pitching coach is she might be a perfectionist.

Hanna Bailey will be done after this year since she has played in game over five years.  Seng likewise.  Having said all this, Shultz is been terrific in finding talent.  So, if there are any gaps next year, I think he can fill them (if he is still here).

I looked at the roster for this year's team and counted as many as 10 current players who may not be back for the 2023 season.   The obvious ones are Alison Seng, Hannah Bailey and Kelsey Lalor of course.   But there are seven others who have either not been utilized at all this season or have barely played.  After all there are 8 new freshmen who will be joining the team next fall - and who knows if they will bring in a transfer or two from the transfer portal (another pitcher perhaps?).

I have no idea who this pitcher is that you are referring to here (that "might not come back next year") but I sincerely hope it's not Sara Johnson or Taylor Caudill.   Without Hannah Bailey next season Boise State is going to need those two  - at the very least - as proven starters for the 2023 season.

Agreed, will most definitely need another seasoned pitcher to come in and compliment the rotation in Hannah’s absence.
