Boise State injuries are mounting up

I tried to count up all the 2022 Boise State football players who have been injured in these first three games and it turned out to be a pretty lengthy list:

WR - Austin Bolt - Broken Leg or foot - Out for the rest of the year (Injured on 1st play of 1st game)

CB - Markel Reed - A.C.L. - Injured in the 1st game - MAY be out for the rest of the season

OG - Ben Dooley - Undisclosed injury - Status unknown - Has not played this season

DL - Cortez Hogans - Undisclosed - Status unknown - Has not played this season

OL - Mason Randolph - Undisclosed - Status unknown - Started 1st game but did not play in 2nd or 3rd games

TE - Riley Smith - Undisclosed - Status unknown - Played in 1st two games - Did not play yesterday

MLB - Marco Notarainni - Lower Leg - Out for the rest of the year - Played in 1st two games - Did not play yesterday

DT - Divine Obichere - Foot - Status unknown - Played in 1st two games - Did not play yesterday

S - Jared Reed - Leg or Knee - Status unknown - Injured very early in yesterday's game.  He had to be carted off the field.

MLB - Ezekiel Noa - Undisclosed - Status unknown - Left in the 3rd quarter (walked off on his own) yesterday but he did not return to the field.

Wow that list is long for this early.

In today's press conference Avalos started out with the news that Marco is out for the rest of the year with a lower leg injury.

Do we need to look at what our Strength and Conditioning coaches are doing to prevent this rash of injuries?  I have seen some chatter on the BTB (Blue Turf Board) about this and they wondered why these coaches have not been successful in helping players prevent injuries.  Anybody know more about their roles and if injury prevention via training is their job?

Football is a violent sport.  Injuries happen.  I don't think this list is out of the ordinary.  I'm sure there are many more playing with broken fingers, sprained ankles, missing MCL's, etc.  Yet almost never hear from coaches/players that injuries or playing hurt are even remotely an excuse.

Nearly a quarter of each and every NFL team is on IR or out for games this early in their season as well.

I tend to agree with Ian here.  I don't think this out of the ordinary.  I wasn't trying to make that claim either.  I was simply attempting to document who on the Boise State football team has been injured to date this season.  I do however think it's out of the ordinary that so many Boise State players are out for the rest of the season.

I didn't listen to ALL of today's press conference with Coach Avalos' remarks - so I don't know if anyone asked about Ezekiel Noa's status - but I'm wondering who is going to be at the two linebacker spots this Friday if Ezekiel Noa is still out with injury.   I swear I saw - late in Saturday's game - where they had Schramm and Demitri Washington at the 2 linebacker spots.   But I KNOW FOR A FACT that that is what I saw -  # 52 and # 38 in the two linebacker positions in the 3rd or 4th quarter (after Zeke left the game).

We’ve played a dime some this season (4-1-6). UTEP plays an air-raid style offense so my guess is lots of 1 linebacker and 6 DB formations.

True....................BUT........................in their post game interview the U.T.E.P. coach said that given their poor results so far this season (I'm paraphrasing here) they were going to go more "conservative" on offense.  So we may see a completely new offense (for them) on Friday.
