Despite earning their highest score of the season, the Broncos were unable to pull out the victory against undefeated Southern Utah Friday night at ExtraMile Arena.
In a meet that went back and forth in scoring, Boise State fell to the Thunderbirds by a slim 196.275 to 195.700 – a difference of just .575.
Boise State started on vault and two Broncos finished with the top scores of the night in the event. Emily Lopez put up a remarkable 9.850 while Alyssa Vulaj placed just behind with a 9.825.

As a team, the Broncos scored 48.775 on the vault in comparison to Southern Utah’s 48.875.
Lopez didn’t stop her momentum on the vault, putting up a 9.925 in uneven parallel bars and tying fellow Bronco Courtney Blackson as co-champions in the category.
The Broncos took down the Thunderbirds on the bars by a slim margin of .075, scoring 49.175.

Emma Loyim and Adriana Popp were stars on the balance beam, scoring a meet-high 9.925 and coming out as co-champions in the event. Boise State came out on top over Southern Utah in the balance beam circuit with a season-high 49.300 to 49.275.

The floor exercise was where the Broncos struggled, scoring behind the Thunderbirds by a margin of .575 with a score of 49.025 to 48.450. Karley McClain was magnificent for Southern Utah and scored a high of 9.900 in the event.
The Broncos will host their next meet from Feb. 3. at 7 p.m., welcoming the Utah State Aggies to ExtraMile Arena.
