After losing three straight conference games, the Boise State women’s basketball team isn’t discouraged. In fact, they’re more than ready to rebound in good fashion.
“You know, we might (be discouraged) if we had lost to the bottom three teams, but we lost to the top three teams, two of them on the road,” Boise State coach Gordy Presnell said. “So we’ve got to believe that we’re doing the right thing and going in the right direction.”
The Broncos (7-11, 2-3 MW) host Fresno State (8-12, 1-6 MW) at ExtraMile Arena Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. MT in a matchup between two teams on three game losing streaks.
Both Fresno State and Boise State look much different from years past. The Bulldogs lost their top leading scorers in Haley and Hanna Cavinder (34.4 ppg combined in 2021-22) while the Broncos have had two freshmen in Mya Hansen (10.6 ppg) and Dani Bayes (9.6 ppg) lead the team in scoring since the start of conference play. Boise State junior forward Elodie Lalotte is also coming off a double-double at UNLV, scoring 19 points and hauling in 10 boards.
Bronco Nation News will have a reporter covering the game Thursday night.
Despite a mostly disappointing season to this point, Presnell said he’s hopeful fans will continue to come to ExtraMile Arena and support the team.
“We have great tradition – we’ve had a lot of success here,” Presnell said. “You’re going to see kids that you’d see for the next two and a half years. We don’t lose anybody for the next two and a half years, so it’s a great opportunity to catch them early.”
