Boise State senior guard Chibuzo Agbo is entering the transfer portal.
Agbo was Boise State’s second-leading scorer at 13.7 points per game last season. He led the Broncos with 76 made 3-pointers while shooting 40.9 percent.
Both ESPN and The Athletic first reported Agbo planned to enter the transfer portal. A source told Bronco Nation News a short time later Agbo sent a text message to teammates recently informing them of his decision.
Agbo released a statement on social media late Thursday night confirming the news and thanking Boise State fans for his two years in Boise.

There’s a chance Agbo could decide to return to the Broncos, but that seems unlikely given his NIL interest elsewhere being in the $500,000 range, according to sources.
The departure of Agbo is a big blow to the Broncos, who have mostly avoided key losses to the transfer portal in men’s basketball and football. Agbo was recently ranked as the No. 3 returning player in the Mountain West next season, according to BartTorvik.com.
Agbo started his career at Texas Tech before transferring to the Broncos two seasons ago. He recently told BNN he planned to test the NBA Draft waters while maintaining his eligibility for his final college season.
The 6-foot-7 Agbo likely will have plenty of options in the transfer portal given his size, athleticism and ability to shoot from the outside. He averaged 12.6 points in 67 games for Boise State the past two seasons and made 154 shots from 3-point range on 40.6 percent shooting. Sources said he was already receiving NIL interest at other schools well above what the Horseshoe Collective in Boise could match.
Boise State will now have to replace 150 made 3-pointers from Agbo and Max Rice from a season ago. Without Agbo the Broncos would return just 86 of the 258 (33.3 percent) 3-point field goals from last year.
Agbo didn’t immediately return a phone call and text message from Bronco Nation News. A Boise State official couldn’t be reached to confirm the news.
Boise State recently announced the addition of San Jose State point guard Alvaro Cardenas. The Broncos, who were looking to add a center in the transfer portal, now likely will have to address the guard spot as well. Boise State currently has three scholarships available.
