Boise State announced in a press release the expansion of its official trading card promotion with Jacksons Food Stores, Friday morning.
Bronco Sports Properties reached a multi-year deal agreement with Jacksons, distinctive by featuring every athletics team at Boise State and creating a chance for every athlete at the university to be featured on a card – the first-of-its-kind throughout collegiate athletics.
“We could not be more excited to build on this partnership to include both men’s and women’s sport programs,” said Jeramiah Dickey, Boise State Director of Athletics in a press release. “Our student-athletes work hard and we are proud to be able to recognize all of them with a community partner like Jacksons. Name, image and likeness continues to be a priority for our department and we are grateful to Bronco Nation for stepping up and supporting these endeavors.”
This will be the second wave of trading cards officially licensed and made by local merchant ONIT marketing, with the first having come last fall highlighting the Boise State football team.
The new set highlighting the men’s and women’s basketball teams, gymnastics and spirit squad will release at Jacksons next week on Feb. 27 while the 2023-24 season has bigger plans, releasing three more sets.
“It’s a really cool opportunity to be able to have our own trading cards,” Boise State women’s basketball star Abby Muse said in a press release. “I never would have thought this was something that was possible when I ended up coming to Boise State. It’s an awesome way to connect our program to the community.”
Boise State announced that one out of every 10 packs will feature an autographed card from a high-profile Bronco athlete. The athletes included in the set releasing next week include Tyson Degenhart, Marcus Shaver Jr., Naje Smith, Abby Muse, Mary Kay Naro and Adriana Popp.
“I’m super excited to be a part of this opportunity,” Degenhart said in a press release. “I’ve always collected trading cards, and to have one as part of a set with all my teammates is something I’m extremely grateful for.”
Mike Walsh, Boise State associate athletic director of strategic communication and business development, joined BNN LIVE Friday morning to discuss the new trading cards:
